There’s only a few weeks until the start of Lewes Artwave. I’m taking part again this year, showing work at my studio at Pastorale Antiques. I’ll also have work on show at the St Annes Gallery. Over the coming weeks I’ll be posting drawings that I’ve been doing around town. Always like drawing in cafes so what better place to start than Bills!
I recently visited Eastbourne to see the Lyons print exhibition at the Towner Gallery. It’s fantastic! I could have stayed all morning looking at the wonderful post war lithographs. My favourites include an Edwin Ladell’s Hastings Lithograph, Jon Mintons ‘Apple Orchard’ and Carel Weights ‘ Albert Bridge’. The exhibition also shows the proof stages of some of the prints which is interesting.
Afterwards I popped in to see Emma Mason at her gallery shop around the corner. Always a great collection prints from postwar to present day.
Then relaxed on the beach and fitted in a few sketches
I’m taking part in the Summer Show at Rye Art Gallery. It’s on now and runs until September 1st. I did this sketch after I dropped off my prints at the gallery. Not ideal weather for sketching but fitted in a quick drawing whilst having a cup of coffee.
Afterwards I stopped off in Hastings to drop off my cards at the Jerwood Gallery and sketched on the beach.
I’ll be exhibiting three prints (including new linocut shown) at the Artist’s United show, the Foundry, North Sttreet, Lewes. Many local artists will be taking part in support of Lewes Football Club. The exhibition runs from Friday 5th until Sunday 7th July. Please come along if you can.
